First Final

My first law school final is tomorrow. Instead of nervous, I’m all confidence. So far law school has been a fantastic experience for me. Over the past year I was doubting my abilities and questioning my future. Life was slightly chaotic and there were several major disappointments along the way.

At the closing of my first semester in law school, things are heading in the right directions. I feel prepared for my exams. I am surrounded by extremely intelligent and supportive friends. I have a man in my life who pushes me towards my potential. I live with a puppy who gives constant love and affection. Finally, I live a comfortable home that keeps me safe.

There are still countless ways that I can improve, but in this moment I feel satisfied.

I think about what just happened in Maine.

I think about what will happen on Mars.

I think about those on death row.

And then I wonder if I should give up my future in fashion so I can focus on improving humanity.

Religion is far more of a choice than homosexuality. And the protections that we have for religion — we protect religion. And talk about a lifestyle choice — that is absolutely a choice… It’s a travesty that people have forced someone who is gay to have to make their case that they deserve the same basic rights as someone else… Jon Stewart (via adayinboston) (via semicolonlove) (via teatime-with-nikki)

Because I live alone, I was recently the recipient of an unsolicited pity party from a newlywed. I once lived with a man, and it was a wonderful experience for he was a wonderful roommate. However, I did miss my bacherolette pad and am pleased to once again be the sole ruler of my castle. My reasons are selfish, but perhaps in my youth, I am selfish. Her pity was wasted.

Top 10 reasons to live alone:

1. I never have to wake up to any alarm but my own.

2. I can choose to have company or silence.

3. I always get to plan the dinner menu.

4. All the closets and cabinets are mine.

5. I make all the decor decisions.

6. I get the entire bed and pillows.

7. I can spend as much time as I desire in the bathroom primping for the day.

8. It is always acceptable to wear a ridiculous outfit just because it is comfortable.

9. My playlist is always chosen.

10. I can leave a mess without inconveniencing anyone.

When I first moved into my apartment, my mother mentioned that it was “big enough for two.” That may be true, but for right now it is all mine! :~)

Lately I feel like somebody made a big mess and I’ve got my mop and I’m mopping the floor and the folks who made the mess are there (saying) ‘you’re not mopping fast enough. You’re not mopping the right way. It’s a socialist mop.’ President Obama (via fakenicebitch) (via semicolonlove) (via teatime-with-nikki)
